About Me:: I am a classical musician, a cellist. I studied the cello with William Pleeth at the Guildhall School of Music (1957 - 62) than with Paul Tortelier in Paris. Have been a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic ( 1963 - 64) the BBC Symphony Orchestra ( 1964 - 69 ) and been Principal cello live in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra ( 1969 - 1994) for 27 long years. I have played with most of the London Orchestras. At present I play with the Strumenti and Granger String Quartets and I am a member of the The Dorian Ensemble. I teach privately the cello and I am also a cello tutor with the CODA Music School, where I also conduct the Coda Chamber Ensemble. I also couch the NCO and Hertfordshire Youth Orchestras.

My British-Hungarian story:: I have been borne in a very old Hungarian family ( in the Lévai Koós and Semsey families ) left Hungary during the 1956 Hungarian revolution, settled in England, I have two daughters Joely ( she is a cellist and a cello professor at the Trinity College of Music in London) her husband Timothy Gill also a cellist (and the principal cellist in the RPO ) and Justine ( a well established actress and singer),. I have three grand-children: Theodore, Doraly and Zerlina. I love Yoga and have been regularly attending Hatha Yoga classes for the last 28 years. I live in Bournemouth, I love the sea, the sun and life.

What I want from this site:: Just to be in contact with my Hungarian background and Culture etc.
