About Me:
Having worked in the Hungarian television and film industry for many years I have extended experience in the industry and a good network of professional and personal friends from this circle. I am director of Skyfilm a prosperous Hungarian production company. Our films are A Kind of America (2002), Hungarian Vagabond (2004) and Lora (2007). We are in pre-production for A Kind of America 2 that we will start shooting in May 2008. I am a mother of two children, Gabor (24) is the vj of Music Television Hungary (I am actually very proud of him, since he was chosen from more than 450 applicants), and Eszter is in the second grade of the Kaposvár University, she is studying to be an actress. I have been singing in a well known Hungarian choir for 36 years. Love cooking and baking and have my friends for lunches and dinners often.

My British-Hungarian story:
I was working for Hungarian Television (MTV) in 1980 when a British production company contacted the co-production department via telex (no fax existed at Hungarian TV that time) saying "Could we have the help of the Hungarian Army for the battle scenes of our TV series about the life of Richard Wagner?" You can probably imagine what a message like that meant for MTV where the telex machine was held in a closed room and you had to ask the permission of the Head of the department to get hold of the key... The help of the Hungarian Army?! And we did it! The 10 part television series was co-produced by Hungarian Television, that they are still very proud of and still air the series from time to time, and the director, Tony Palmer became one of my best friends for a lifetime. A great part of the music of the film was recorded at Hungarian Radio with the orchestra of the Hungarian Radio and Hungarian singers. I am credited as associate producer in the series, representing Hungarian Television.
This co-production was followed by many others I participated in: Music In Time (a BBC series introduced by Sir James Galway), and most recently Tony Palmer's brand new documentary on the great Briotish composer Vaughan Williams.

I visited England with the choir (Hungarian Choir of Jeunesses Musicales) also, and we were staying with families in Bristol, Taunton, Brighton and London. It would be nice to get into contact with them again.

One of my other dear friends are Peter Sasdy and Myrtill Nádassy (Mia Sasdy). Peter is a Hungarian born director (The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 3/4, The Lonely Lady etc.) and Mia is an actress, who had had many roles in Hungarian films and played on stage in Hungary, too, but marrying peter she moved to London. She is a writer, lecturer and an actress.
What I want from this site:
Keep my pre-existing relationships and meet new friends who are interested in Hungarian-British cultural connections.
