Chair CAmbridge Szeged Society - running a full cultural & social programme to promote & develop relations with our twin city - and interest in Hungarian culture & traditions - and to stimulate European activities.
Both parents were Hungarian although I was born here in the UK. My father was the composer Matyas Seiber, my mother was part of the first modern ballet company, Ballet Jooss - both settled in the UK in the mid 1930's.
First went to Hungary in 1990 with my husband Simon - who was on the City COuncil when the Twinning agreement was signed in 1987. I have chaired the Society since the early 2000's. We take a local artist to Bridge Fair in Szeged each May (since 2005) & this has has resulted in an exchange of art exhibitions this year; after 3 years negotiating, the inaugural rowing regatta also took place on the Tisza in May - which Szeged won convincingly. WE are always looking for more strands to develop - both culturally and in the academic sphere too. Plans are in place to expand these - particularly in 2012.
What I want from this site:
Our activities to be better known & more members - you do not have to be in either Cambridge or Szeged, although it obviously helps!
